Tentative Salvation is a project born from necessity. After a model for a previous project became involved in scandal, the project that featured their face was sanded and reborn, bringing this Ibanez GAX30 to it’s final and permanent appearance.
Rebirth and change are ever-present concepts in this project, reusing many parts from the piece that it is transformed from, including the repurposed vinyl record pick guard. Just as this piece has transformed drastically since it’s original conception as “Damaged Goods,” the presented design also changes drastically depending on the color of light shining on it.
This project utilizes semi-transparent inks to create an anaglyph effect, presenting both images under white light, the blue image under red light, and the red image under blue light, using red ink to establish visual hierarchy with the angelic image under white light. The intention of using this effect is to utilize the ever-changing lighting of a performance setting, changing the presented design constantly as lighting changes without the aid of display technology; nothing but good old-fashioned science.
As a musical instrument, this guitar is an overhauled Ibanez GAX30 with GFS Power Rail Pickups, a Proline volume potentiometer, a Proline Push/Pull tone potentiometer, a Proline 3-Way Switch, Kluson Plus tuning pegs, and all-new braided wiring.
